Located on a hill overlooking the valley, the 12th century chateau is built in a trapezoidal form, with 4 defensive towers. It was acquired in 1675 by Vauban as a thank you from King Louis XIV due to his brilliance in battle. The chateau is open to the public for tours, €9,50/adult, closed on the day we visited.
